A productive collaboration to furnish the Portico of the Library in Piazza Vecchia
The 6th edition of I Maestri del Paesaggio– International Meeting of the Landscape and Garden (www.imaestridelpaesaggio.it) organised by Arketipos and the Municipality of Bergamo will take place in Bergamo Alta from 7 to 25 September: a high-profile event and an international appointment to immerse oneself in the culture of the landscape over sixteen days of cultural buzz.
Wild Landscape: the focus of this edition stems from a reflection on design and spontaneity in the landscape, which leads to the awareness that the “wild garden” does not exist, as it springs in any case from the rational actions of man, from a project that organises and arranges the materials found in nature.
The partners of this edition include for the first time – and with the collaboration of Zenucchi Design Code – B&B Italia with its Outdoor collection, the result of collaboration with top designers such as Jean Marie Massaud, Patricia Urquiola and Antonio Citterio.
The design of the installation in the Library’s portico was inspired by the main theme of the Masters of Landscape event: Wild Landscapes, seemingly natural and spontaneous landscapes but cleverly guided by a design that organises and arranges the materials found in nature. For this reason, the Library’s portico was fitted out by designing outdoor settings with designer furniture by international architects such as Patricia Urquiola and Antonio Citterio. As a backdrop to such modern, designer furnishings, a green landscape was intended to recreate local gardens, using green carpets for the flooring, pots made from the earth’s materials and entirely by hand (hence the choice of Atelier Vierkant) in which grass and native plants are planted: the idea therefore of a spontaneous garden, apparently in contrast with the historic architecture of the Library, but similar in that both were born from an exceptional project and study. Finally, on the ceiling, an installation with hanging ribbons in different shades of blue aims to evoke a waterfall gently cascading over the garden. An installation that also aims to create a connection with the projection of a presentation by Zenucchi and B&B Italia on the façade of the Library.
