Panton Chair Collection – Chair

The history of the Panton Chair dates back to the second half of the 1950s when the Danish designer Verner Panton had the idea to create a plastic cantilever chair, but this rather risky design did not arouse the interest of any manufacturer. Willi Fehlbaum, the founder of Vitra, was interested in the idea but only agreed to implement it when Rolf Fehlbaum and product development manager Manfred Diebold visited Panton and returned with enthusiastic reports.
