Cactus Andy Collection – Floor hanger LIMITED EDITION

(Limited Edition) Gufram, in collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation of Visual Arts, presents a new, colourful edition of the famous Cactus. The iconic and surreal coat rack is tinged with blue, yellow or pink. Each element was reproduced in 99 pieces.
Created by Italian designers Guido Drocco and Franco Mello in 1972, Gufram’s Cactus is now considered a true work of contemporary art, an ornamental object capable of capturing the viewer’s attention with its personality. Gufram’s project was born on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, a double tribute to the iconic object and to the artist who most marked the last century, with his non-conformist style, far from all cultural and social conventions.
Andy’s Blue Cactus, Andy’s Pink Cactus and Andy’s Yellow Cactus are the perfect translation of Andy Warhol’s prints, with their gritty and timeless design. A tribute to all those people who have had the courage and insolence to assert themselves, and an encouragement to new artists, inviting them to break boundaries and go beyond limits.
Made from the original 1972 mould, each cactus is sculpted and finished by hand by skilled craftsmen, making each piece unique. The 2,165 polyurethane studs that characterise the surface are painted with Guflac, a varnish that makes the surface similar to leather, while allowing it to remain flexible and soft.
