Manuel Bonfanti presenting his exhibition “Verso nessun luogo, towards nowhere” says that observing the works of art we immerse ourselves in the scenery of a pictorial space landscape in a total way; the invisible and imperceptible border of the gaze towards the infinite imagination, Which takes concrete form in front of the place artfully imagined or represented by the Nothing. The Nothing perceives it as a Zen idea, but also real as a void in the ordinary space. He concludes by saying that the tension towards a direction, indicates a journey to nowhere, leaving the viewer to experience the contplative vision of observation.
Artist’s biography:
Manuel Bonfanti was born in 1974, lives and works in Bergamo, Italy.
Manuel Bonfanti’s research is born with pop art. In 1996, while attending the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, the artist began to create works that recall objects of common use, revisited in a playful and ironic way.
At the same time, the artist is interested in the immateriality of objects, seeking spirituality in his works.
Although the two aspects – pop and spiritual – may seem to be in contrast with each other, for Bonfanti they are two sides of the same coin: “An object is not only a physical thing, it has all an invisible world around”.
