The living room is an elegant grey room that designer lights fill with atmosphere.
In the heart of Bergamo, protected by the rigour of an ancient building, an elegant flat was crying out to be completed. It had an oak floor, an ice-coloured kitchen, and a minimal bathroom full of light and magic. However, there were few furnishings. No rugs, no curtains. No accessories, no lamps. That flat lacked soul. It was a house, without the warmth of a home. Until Zenucchi Design Code was called in. And so, now, the living room is no longer a simple living room, but an elegant grey room that designer lights fill with atmosphere. There is the large sofa, model White by Rodolfo Dordoni (Minotti), and there is the vintage-looking leather and steel armchair, model 423 Cab Lounge by Mario Bellini (2015, Cassina). Resting on a linen rug there is a sofa and an armchair. These face the wooden geometries of Le Corbusier’s LC14 Tabourets (1952/1959; 2010 Cassina), and the custom-made TV wall. Everything here is grey. But a grey that is warm, nuanced and tastes of home. A strong grey, giving character. That accompanies the white and, with it, the height of the walls, ceilings and windows. A grey that, under a soft, studied light, lights up. It comes alive. It lives and then lives again. It comes from a sphere that is low and round, the light. From the long thin arm of a 265 by Paolo Rizzato (1973, Flos). From the floor lamp that, like a full moon, illuminates Massimo Castagna’s Cage B (Henge). A light, industrial bookcase with great composure. Stands behind the sofa. It accompanies the corridor that leads from the entrance to the living area.
A white kitchen, with a wooden ceiling and soft light filtering through.
To the living room, to the dining room that surprises. Exposed beams, dark and lived-in, support alien lamps. The Light Ring Orizontal by Massimo Castagna (Henge). A play of circles, light and geometries reflects on the ultra-thin, shiny top of Gabriele Buratti’s Axis table (2009, Acerbis). Elegant Gingers by Roberto Lazzeroni (2011, Poltrona Frau) stand out with their champagne-coloured leather. It is a sedate dining room. Which has no frills, which is balanced. Which is a perfect puzzle of edges, circles and straight lines. Which is called on to introduce the kitchen. A white kitchen, with a wooden ceiling and light filtering in from the custom-made roller blind. Only the ultramarine blue of the stools, model Lem by Shin & Tomoko Azumi (2000, lapalma) gives a touch of colour. Because in this house in the heart of Bergamo, it is the details that impress. Installed by the skilled hands of an experienced and passionate team. Like in the room where, alongside the existing bed, Zenucchi Design Code chose two Bobs by Jean-Marie Massaud (2006, Poltrona Frau). The wall is decorated with the taut, geometric cables of Kostantin Gric’s OK (2014, Flos). A clear, three-dimensional TV wall gives balance to the room, while the square lines of a Duet (2014, Davide Groppi) illuminate the walk-in wardrobe. As if the light of the sun, here, is a continuation. Enriched. Sophisticated. Graced by a design that resembles a sculpture.
