An ancient roccolo sur  rounded by greenery..

A one-of-a-kind abode, an ancient “roccolo” sur – rounded by greenery, wrapped in hornbeam and overlooking the city of Bergamo with a breathtak – ing view. A wish that comes true. The interior design — managed by Zenucchi Arre – damento — complies with the memory of the past by adding minimal contemporary design elements to leave room for the natural setting. The preser – vative renovation works carried out by Studio Zam – belli have been essential too. The house develops on four long and narrow levels with openings on all sides: a composition that required a lot of creativity and experience to be furnished. Zenucchi team stated: “We started from the ground floor, from an old wooden staircase that has been completely redesigned and replaced with a very modern and light waxed iron plate staircase that leads to the crawl space. We decided to reuse wood as a protective barrier; however, we came up with a new look and functionality.” The staircase goes hand in hand with a tailor-made bookcase that perfectly matches the Rosso Verona marble, kept in its original condition and used for the staircase that leads to the basement too. In this abode, you can enjoy an atmosphere full of memories but also precious and natural materials. That is the reason why some selected pieces are design icons: the Eames lounge chair and ottoman by Vitra in its original version, the Cassina LC4 chaise longue and the Doge table designed by Car – lo Scarpa for Cassina which lets the light seep in thanks to its characteristic transparency and leads the gaze towards the kitchen and the living area.

A classy touch in the reading area: a small armchair placed in front of the incredible view.

On the first floor, the master bedroom is a tai – lor-made space with a one-of-a-kind design that enhances beauty and comfort. The modern bath – room has been equipped with a shower cabin that features chromotherapy. A classy touch in the reading area: a small armchair — in green velvet to deliberately blend in with the outdoor setting — placed in front of the incredible view in addition to a clear and light table, almost unnoticeable. One of the two daughters’ rooms — with en-suite bathroom — is located in the crawl space, com – pletely restored and renovated. “In this case too — the Zenucchi team commented —, a tailor-made design was essential in order to follow the lines and the shapes of the wood – en mansard roof. The guest bathroom has been placed in the basement, by taking advantage of the natural recess created by the wall thickness.” This well-structured project required various measures implemented by Zenucchi’s experience, professionalism and passion.
